The Vaishno Devi Yatra is a religious trip to a holy place in the Trikuta Mountains, in Jammu. People walk 13 km from a town called Katra to reach the temple, called Bhawan, where they pray to Mata Vaishno Devi. The walk is beautiful and there are places to rest get medical help and eat along the way. If walking is hard for some people, they can ride horses be carried in chairs or use electric vehicles instead.
The journey to the temple has become easier lately. People can now use cable cars to travel from the main temple to another important temple called Bhairon. If you want to get there quickly, you can take a helicopter ride from a place called Katra to an area named Sanjichhat. For older people or those who have trouble walking there are special electric carts available to help them move around. These will enable as many people as can be afforded to be able to go to the temple regardless of their age or strength.
