Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) is a free living, transparent nematode with a length of about 1mm. It is common around the world and lives in temperate soil environments. C. elegans is an unsegmented pseudocoelomate that lacks a circulatory system and a respiratory system. It is non-hazardous, non-pathogenic, non-infectious and non-parasitic Caenorhabditis elegans is small (with a length of about 1mm) and transparent for ease of manipulation and observation. Thus it is safely used in the laboratory as one of the most famous model organisms. C. elegans was the first multicellular organism to have its whole genome sequenced.

C. elegans is a vermiform, unsegmented, and bilaterally symmetrical organism. It has four main epidermal cords, a cuticle and a fluid-filled pseudocoelom. Some of the same organs as larger species can be found in C. elegans. The basic anatomy of C. elegans includes a mouth, intestine, pharynx, gonad, and collagenous cuticle. Most of C.elegans individuals are hermaphrodites, while a few of them are male (about 1 in a thousand individuals). Hermaphrodites have two ovaries, spermatheca, oviducts, and a single uterus. Males have a single-lobed gonad, a vas deferens, and a tail specialized for mating, which incorporates spicules.

C. elegans was first used as model organism in 1963. It is one of the simplest model organisms that have a nervous system. C. elegans is a multicellular eukaryotic organism, and is also simple enough to be studied in great detail. What's more, C. elegans strains are cheap to breed. They can also be frozen and remain viable when subsequently thawed, which means it is possible for long-term storage. Thus C. elegans are involved in a wide range of important biological researches such as Programmed cell death (apoptosis), RNA interference (RNAi), meiosis, nicotine dependence, etc.

With state-of-art facilities and years of protein and antigen production experience, Creative Diagnostics now can provide high-quality Caenorhabditis elegans antigens and natural or recombinant Caenorhabditis elegans proteins with cheaper price such as SNAP-25 protein.
